ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Before coaching leaders through transformation, I lived it.
The New Beginning in Vancouver trilogy is a fiction series rooted in a real journey: relocation, reinvention, and the quiet courage of becoming. An organic writer, my novels are the outcome from a lifetime experience.
THE TRILOGY
New Beginning in Vancouver — A Trilogy
Some stories begin with a choice. Others start with a rupture. The New Beginning in Vancouver trilogy starts with both: a woman who leaves everything to rebuild, and finds that rebuilding is never about returning to who you were.
Through three books, protagonist Maxime explores relocation, identity, love, loss, and the slow work of becoming. Set against Vancouver's Canadian landscape and deeply rooted in Martinique's textures, the trilogy moves from disorientation through transformation to the profound gift of new life.
This fiction reflects what it's like to start over because its author has experienced it.
Themes:
Migration and belonging
Identity reinvention
Grief and renewal
Love across difference
What it means to lead your own life
BOOK 1
New Beginning in Vancouver
"Hmm. I have no history here; no family he can threaten me with. The only thing I have is the Blossom. Believe me, I'll do whatever it takes to defend it."
Yet she freezes. She only has the Blossom... and Gabriel.
Maxime has moved to Vancouver after spending most of her life in Montréal. Leaving her career behind, she becomes a successful entrepreneur and owner of the Salon Blossom—Flowers and Teas.
Guided by her core belief—a rich life is filled with kindness, curiosity, and exploration—Maxime chooses reinvention. But Vancouver holds surprises, not all of them welcome.
In this new chapter of her life, challenges and blessings collide. Maxime must question what she is willing to protect and who she is willing to let in.
The novel includes musical references throughout, with Maxime's curated playlists.
BOOK 2
Choosing Love Over Pride
"Max, do you remember the proposal-gate?"
"How could I ever forget, sweetie? You made sure no one would. Why do you ask?"
"Was it worth it? I mean, I recall being a fierce advocate for the 'I do.' But when I think of how much Dad and you have suffered because of love, I wonder, Was it worth it?"
Maxime's stepdaughter refers to her father's legendary attempt to propose in New Beginning in Vancouver, the prequel to this book. This new stage of Maxime's life navigates us through a rollercoaster of emotions while she must face new joys and challenges.
I hope you will enjoy, laugh, and cry reading their story as much as I did when I wrote it. I offer you an opportunity to complete the experience of reading this novel by appealing to all senses with a soundtrack, available on my website: marielledevassoigne.com/author.
Finally, as I identify as a BIPOC and LGBTQ+ ally, this book reflects once again my core belief: a rich life is filled with kindness, curiosity, and exploration, as well as values of diversity and inclusion.
Enjoy!
BOOK 3
Life doesn't settle. It surges.
Book 3 is in progress. Maxime's story reaches its closing chapter. Not with quiet endings, but with the irreversible gift of new life.
